Sick in London...
So apparently England has an NHS system, meaning socialized medicine. After stopping and inquiring about the nearest walk-in clinic to treat my recurring strep, one of the stocker ladies told me to go to St. Thomas's Hospital instead of the 30-60 GBP visit to see one across the street from Victoria Station.
I decided to try this, being it was only 9:00. After a few transfers in the tube I arrived at the Waterloo Station. I'll admit it was quite a different side of London that I was used to. After asking about 5 different people where St. Thomas Hospital was, I finally arrived after a long walk. I then had to ask a few more people where the clinic was, it was the Emergency Clinic on Ground Floor, not first (which is our second floor in America)!! Well after checking in, My temp was a grand 38.7 C which is about 101.66 F (311.85 Kelvin). After some consulting with the doctor, I got 10 days worth of penicillin. The nurse just gave it to me, meaning I had to pay nothing. Since I was a student, the nurse decided that it would be better to just give it to me on the spot. I was quite happy about the outcome of that intensive adventure.
Afterwards, I went back to my room and slept for a good hour or so. Right now I'm preparing for my interview at 3:30 with brightlemon. Hopefully things will work out...We'll see though.
Cheers,
Joe Trap
